Jon Sundt

In 2002 award winning investment professional Jon Sundt founded Altegris, an alternative investment firm, and has since served as the firm’s chairman. Under his leadership, Altegris’ success grew by deploying strategies involving managed futures, global macro, and event-driven markets to provide investment solutions to both investment professionals and personal investors. In 2010, Jon Sundt secured the sale of Altegris to Genworth, a Fortune 500 company, for a multiyear deal valued at $100 million and, just three years later he was as instrumental in securing the sale of Altegris and Genworth Financial to Aquiline and Genstar for $440 million.

Jon Sundt began his career in finance in 1986, and has built a reputation as an industry leader over his three decade-long career in the industry. Prior to his position at Altegris he served as a senior vice president at the Man Financial Managed Investments Division. Over his career he has won numerous awards, most recently the 2013 Pioneer of the Investment Industry Award. The same year he was named among the Top 25 Industry Leaders by Investment Advisors. In 20012 Jon Sundt won Ernst and Young's Entrepreneur of the Year Award as Founder and CEO of Altegris.

Outside of his professional life, Jon Sundt serves as the founder and chief visionary officer of Natural High, a charitable organization dedicated to inspiring children to discover their passions, seeking natural highs rather than those derived from drugs. He founded the charity in 1994 after losing both of his brothers to addiction, and has since helped grow the organization into one that reaches 8 million students in 20,000 classrooms across all 50 states.
